    What Thai massage is

Traditional Thai massage (Nuad Thai) is performed in comfortable clothing, on a mat and without oils. The therapist combines acupressure, rhythmic compressions and passive, yoga-like stretching, working with palms, thumbs, elbows and sometimes knees and feet. The goal is to clear the sen energy lines and restore freedom of movement.

It is a more dynamic and energising technique than a classic oil massage. You will find the full description and time variants on the Thai massage page.

    Benefits for the body

Thai massage releases tense and overloaded muscles — especially in the back, neck and shoulders, which suffer most from sedentary work. Stretching increases the range of motion in the joints and improves flexibility, while compression work stimulates blood and lymph circulation, supporting recovery and tissue oxygenation.

Regular sessions help with stiffness, tension pain and muscle fatigue after training. Active people often use Thai massage as part of recovery between workouts.

    Benefits for the mind

Although Thai massage can be intense, it works deeply to calm you down. The rhythm of compressions and stretching lowers nervous tension, helps release stress and makes it easier to fall asleep. After a session many people feel light, mentally clear and noticeably less tense.

How often to have a Thai massage

For persistent tension, a series of treatments every 1–2 weeks works well, followed by maintenance visits once a month. For prevention and relaxation, a massage every 3–4 weeks is enough. The therapist will tailor the best frequency to your condition and goal.

    Contraindications

Thai massage is not recommended with, among others, fever and infection, fresh injuries, thrombosis, advanced osteoporosis or certain heart conditions. During pregnancy and with chronic illnesses, consult the treatment with your doctor and tell the therapist about your health before the session. If in doubt, write to us via contact.
