Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage — what it involves and who it suits

Long, wave-like strokes of the forearms from neck to feet, warm oil and a rhythm that never breaks. That is Lomi Lomi — the most flowing massage on our menu.

Lomi Lomi comes from Hawaii, and in the Hawaiian language the name means kneading and stroking. In practice it is a full-body massage in which your therapist works not with single grips but with her whole forearms, drawing them in long strands without lifting her hands from your body. That is why guests so often compare it to waves.

What a session looks like

It starts with a short chat about how you feel and which areas need attention, followed by the foot-washing ceremony. The treatment itself goes roughly like this:

  1. Warm oil and the first strands — hands and forearms cover the back and limbs in one movement.
  2. Long forearm strokes from the neck all the way to the feet, without a break.
  3. Both hands working at once, often symmetrically on either side of the spine — this is where the typical rhythm comes from.
  4. Gentle rocking and stretching of the limbs between the strands.
  5. A slower pace towards the end and a calm touch on the neck and head to close.

It is an oil massage, so you undress to whatever level feels comfortable, and you stay covered with a towel throughout.

Lomi Lomi or Balinese massage?

Both use oil and both are deeply relaxing, which is why guests often hesitate between them. The difference lies in what your therapist works with and how.

Who Lomi Lomi suits

  • people who feel tension across the whole body rather than in one spot,
  • those who dislike firm, point pressure,
  • anyone after a long, intense stretch at work who needs a proper reset,
  • people who find it hard to wind down in the evening,
  • a first visit to a massage salon,
  • couples — in one room, on two tables.
When something else fits better

Lomi Lomi covers the whole body and does not focus on one place. If there is a specific spot that keeps holding on, Chinese massage with acupressure or Shiatsu will serve you better.

Price and duration

A 60-minute session costs 249 PLN, 90 minutes 329 PLN and 120 minutes 399 PLN. The couples option in one room is 449 PLN for 60 minutes for both people. We offer it at both salons, in Gdańsk and Gdynia; the full overview is in the price list.

We skip Lomi Lomi during fever or infection, with fresh injuries and inflammation, thrombosis, skin changes in the treated area and in the first trimester of pregnancy. The full list is in our contraindications guide.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. The pressure is moderate; the sense of depth comes from working with the whole forearm and from the continuous movement. We adjust the intensity to you, and one word changes it during the session.

  • It is an oil massage, so you undress to whatever level feels comfortable. You stay covered with a towel throughout, and you can shower on site before and after the session.

  • Yes. We do couples massage in one room on two tables — 449 PLN for 60 minutes for both people. Each of you can choose a different pressure, or even a different massage.
