What a first visit looks like — step by step, no surprises

Feeling unsure before your first visit is completely normal: what happens, do you have to undress, how do you pay? Here's the whole visit, step by step — from booking to walking out.

Most of the questions we hear on the phone start with “I've never been to a massage before…” That's a good sign — an informed guest wants to know what to expect. Below is the exact flow of a visit to Tera Thai, laid out so nothing catches you off guard.

Before you come in

Book a slot online via Booksy (24/7) or by phone — Gdańsk: 538 899 993, Gdynia: 730 823 434. We don't charge a deposit (except for groups of 3 or more people: 30% deposit) — you pay only after the treatment, on site. If you're not sure which massage to choose, answer three questions in our massage matcher, or just tell us on the spot — a consultation is part of every visit.

Arrive 5–10 minutes before your session. That buffer is enough for a calm welcome, a chat, and getting ready — no rushing that spoils the relaxation before it's even started.

Step 1: A short consultation

We start with a few questions: what's bothering you, whether you have any injuries or chronic conditions, whether you're pregnant, what pressure you like. It's not a formality — this is what your therapist uses to choose techniques and intensity. If you have any health concerns, check our guide to contraindications beforehand.

Step 2: Getting ready

On site, you can take a shower — before and after the treatment. Fresh linens and towels for every guest are standard here, so you can come straight from work or the beach. Every massage also begins with a brief foot-washing ceremony. From there, it depends on the type of massage:

  • Classic Thai massage and Shiatsu — performed on our massage table, in loose, comfortable clothing, no oil. You don't need to undress.
  • Oil massages (Balinese, Lomi Lomi, Swedish and others) — you undress to your own comfort level, and you're properly covered with a towel throughout the treatment.

Step 3: The massage

The session runs as long as you choose — 60, 90 or 120 minutes. The most important rule: you can speak up during the session. Too firm? Too light? Cold? One word is enough, and your therapist will adjust. You don't need to “do” anything either — many people simply fall asleep, and that's completely fine.

What should you bring?

Nothing special. Towels, linens and everything else you need are on site. Just bring yourself — the rest is on us.

Step 4: After the treatment

After the massage, you'll get some water and a moment to come back to yourself — we don't rush anyone out of the room. Payment happens at the end: cash, card, or BLIK. It's worth planning a quieter evening; find tips for the hours after in our guide on how to prepare for a massage.

Which massage should you choose the first time?

It's hard to go wrong, but the three safest options to start with are: classic Thai massage (if you'd rather stay clothed), Balinese Pijat Bali (if you're dreaming of an oil-based relaxation), and Swedish massage (a firm classic with oil, pressure adjusted to you). If you're on the fence — an on-site consultation clears things up in two minutes.

Frequently asked questions before a first visit

  • Not always. Classic Thai massage and Shiatsu are performed on our massage table in loose, comfortable clothing. For oil massages, you undress to your own comfort level, and you're properly covered with a towel throughout the treatment.

  • Yes — at both Tera Thai salons, in Gdańsk and Gdynia, you can shower before and after the treatment. Fresh towels and linens for every guest are standard, so you don't need to plan or bring anything.
