Massage for stress — calm body and mind
A mind that won't switch off, raised shoulders, shallow breathing? For stress we recommend a slow, rhythmic massage with warm oil — Balinese Pijat Bali or Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi — which makes it easier to slow down and breathe out. At Tera Thai in Gdańsk and Gdynia it takes 60–90 minutes.
When stress shows up
- A “mind that won't rest” in the evening
- A tense jaw and teeth clenching at night
- Raised shoulders and shallow breathing
- Fatigue from the moment you wake up and restless sleep
- Irritability out of proportion to the situation
Stress also lives in the body
Stress doesn't only live in the head. You often feel it in the body: a tight neck, shoulders and jaw, shallow breathing, poorer sleep and tiredness, even when “nothing specific” is happening.
A slow massage with warm oil is an hour in which your breathing slows and your muscles gradually let go. You can often feel the relaxation during the very first 60-minute session.
For stress we recommend the long, repetitive rhythm of Balinese, Lomi-Lomi or Shiatsu massage at a calm pace. Firm deep-tissue work is better left for another day. The scent of lavender or sandalwood oil rounds it off.

Regularity matters
If stress is part of your everyday life, a good rhythm is 60–90 minutes every 2 weeks for the first 6–8 weeks, then once a month. Between sessions, mindful breathing, walks and sleep hygiene help. If stress or anxiety makes everyday life hard, talk to a doctor or psychologist. Read more about relaxing massage in our article relaxing Thai massage.

Balinese Pijat Bali or Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi work best — both are oil-based, slow and enveloping. In the evening, avoid intense, deep-tissue work; calm comes from rhythm, not force. During your pre-treatment consultation, we'll pick the technique and pressure with you.
