Massage for headaches — release the tension
Tension headaches in the temples, a “squeezing” feeling at the base of the skull? We work on the neck, occipital and jaw muscles, because that's where tension builds up most often. Shiatsu on the neck's tsubo points, releasing the masseter muscles, stretching the suboccipital muscles. Gdańsk and Gdynia.
When it's worth coming in
- A squeezing feeling in the head after a day at the screen
- A “band” feeling around the head that builds up after work
- Pain that starts at the back of the head and moves forward
- Jaw clenching, night-time teeth grinding
- A stiff neck and tight temples
Where the tension comes from
Many people know the feeling: a dull “band” around the head that builds up during the day along with a tight neck, jaw and temples.
Migraine is a separate matter that's worth discussing with a doctor. Massage doesn't treat it, and if you get migraines, please tell us before your visit.
How we work: Shiatsu on neck and occipital points, relaxing the masseter muscles and stretching the suboccipital muscles. You can usually feel the neck relax during the session.

How often to come
See a doctor first about recurring headaches. If you'd like to come regularly, 60 minutes every 2 weeks is a good rhythm. Always tell us about an active migraine attack before your visit — we'll adjust or reschedule the treatment. Related: massage for neck pain and massage for stress.
Frequently asked questions
-
Massage doesn't treat migraines and doesn't replace care from a doctor. We don't massage during an active attack; let us know and we'll reschedule.
-
Tight suboccipital and trapezius muscles can cause a feeling of pressure at the back of the head, in the temples and above the forehead. During the session we do point work on the neck, and you can usually feel it relax straight away. See a doctor about frequent or severe headaches.
-
You can usually feel your neck relax during the first session. Massage doesn't treat headaches, so if they keep coming back, talk to a doctor. For regular visits, a session every 2 weeks is a good rhythm.
