When to plan it
- Deload week — deeper work
- 24–72 h after your hardest session of the week — while your muscles still feel tired
- 5–7 days before a race — a light activation massage
- 3–5 days after competing — a psychophysical reset
- The start of a new training block
Massage in your training cycle
Amateur or competitive athlete — the four massage windows are the same: deload weeks (deep work), after hard sessions, before a race (light activation), and after competing (reset).
A poor strategy is a deep massage 24 hours before a race: the muscles get released, but can temporarily lose power output. The optimal pre-race window is 5–7 days.
A steady massage rhythm suits sports with high movement repetition: running, cycling, swimming, triathlon.

Frequently asked questions
-
Deeper work no later than 5–7 days before the race. After that, only a very light activation massage — muscles need a few days after deep work to regain full spring.
-
At minimum twice a month; ideally weekly during your highest-volume periods. Treat massage as a unit of your training plan, not a reward.
-
We don't promise that. Massage gives you relaxation and a moment of rest within your plan, and your therapist can point out spots that feel noticeably tight. Injury risk comes down to technique, strength and a sensible plan.
